I have been called "racist" because I am against animal cruelty. I truly believe that the halal process is nothing more than animal cruelty. I won't go into details of the process, but there is a very accurate, undercover video on the Links page.
It's not racist to be against this sort of cruelty. It's not racist to ask why the animal cannot be pre-stunned before slaughter. I know that its proponents claim that this prevents the blood from draining, but if the process were done quickly enough, the animal would still be halal or kosher.

The current method of slaughter does not leave the animal truly blood-free anyway. No matter how quickly the animal is slaughtered, some blood will always remain in the organs and capillaries.

My dream would be to see, one day, a symbolic ritual in place of the current method of slaughter. I accept this will probably never happen, so for now, I will join in the campaign pf the Farmer's Union, PeTA, the RSPCA, PDSA and other worthy bodies to get the laws changed so that an animal must be pre-stunned before slaughter, so that no pain is felt.
