What's going on with Christmas? Why is it considered offensive to celebrate it? I understand that not everyone in Britain is Christian. But why, every year, do we hear of more and more PC stupidity by councils bending over backwards in order not to offend non-Christians?

You don't see Christians or Catholics or atheists kicking up a fuss when Eid or Diwali or Passover is celebrated. In fact, a lot of people will gladly take part, where permitted, in the traditions of other religions. So why is Christianity - and Christmas - specifically - so frowned upon? What did Santa do?

Yorkshire Coast College in Scarborough has cancelled Christmas for its students in 2008. This, they claim, to stay "in line with Ofsted guidelines." The only thing is, Ofsted has no such guidelines! "Ofsted inspection guidance for colleges makes no reference whatsoever to the observance of religious festivals," a spokeswoman said.
